John Tapia Urquiza has been the creative director for “dialogues” since 1999. Born and raised in Northeast Los Angeles, Urquiza has worked as an advertising art director and designer for 18 years. His array of clientele and projects range from Asia to Europe, but he is most proud of his work with nonprofit organizations and the public projects in his native Los Angeles.

As a design educator for nine years Urquiza has written several articles on branding and design and lectures on design, photography and production issues for designers regularly. In 2006, he was honored with the University and College Designer’s Association “Excellence in Design.”

After 20 years, Urquiza has returned to exhibiting. In those years, he amassed a collection of work ranging from Polaroids and large-format impressionistic landscapes to abstract nudes, as well as documentary street photography. Today he divides his time between teaching, graphic design and fine art photography.
