David Neptune was born and raised in rural Japan, surrounded by nature and his father’s shakuhachi music. He experienced a unique upbringing in Kamogawa city of Chiba prefecture as the only American Caucasian boy he knew.

He first came to America when he was fifteen to attend high school. It was then that he discovered his love for photography and a connection with the simplicity of Japanese music and nature. His passion later grew into an interest in filmmaking, which prompted him to study film and video production at Brooks Institute in Ventura.

After graduating, David has worked as a news shooter, subtitle writer, teacher’s assistant for a film school, and translator, while continuing to direct several short films and music videos of his own. He recently began his second year as a resident of Culver City, enjoying the ocean, mountains, and everything in between.
